Jiuzhaigou Weather

Jiuzhai Valley National Park has experienced no affects of the bad weather that has devestated other parts of China during the summer. There have been no mudslides or landslides in the national park or the area outside of the park where visitors will stay. The weather in Jiuzhai Valley has been largely clear and sunny and temperatures have ranged from 20C to just over 30C. There has however been some disruption to the public bus schedules from Chegndu to Jiuzhai Valley in recent weeks. On the 14th and again on the 19th of august landslides near Ping Wu lead to many public busses cancelling their travel to Jiuzhai Valley. These landslides are regular during very dry or very wet weather and there were no casualties reported. These landslides have bloacked roads, not wiped out villages. Because of debris on the road there have been some travel delays in recent weeks. Public busses are now travelling as normal. It is advisable that you contact the bus stations in Chengdu or your travel provider to enquire about the daily schedules. Travel agents busses have been banned from travelling to Jiuzhai Valley from Chengdu until the 30th of September to minimise delays and to allow construction vehicles to clear the debris. The road from the airport to Jiuzhai Valley and Huanglong National Parks have not been affected at all and all traffic on these roads is running as normal. At this time our thoughts are with the many people in Gansu, Sichuan and other parts of China that have been affected by the recent flooding.
